Team Hazel Creek load ‘em up: QDMA here we come!Aug 20, 2009
Well, it’s off to Louisville, Kentucky for the Quality Deer Management Annual National Convention & Wildlife Expo.  We have been decorating the annual convention for a couple of years now.   This year we loaded two trucks and trailers full of trophy whitetail shoulder mounts, life size whitetail, fish, and turkey mounts.

We had a lot of fun with our niece Lynn making the road trip as part of Team Hazel Creek.  She worked with us at the shop a couple of summers while going to school, but had never been to a show.  She is a blast to be around and is always finding ways to crack us up. Her sense of humor and “happy go lucky” attitude is contagious.

Trying out a new look.

The QDMA is a show that I strongly support.  As a landowner and whitetail deer hunting fanatic, I appreciate the focus this organization has on whitetail management through deer biology, herd management, and habitat management including food plots.

The annual convention focuses a lot of the event around education through seminars given by biologists and deer experts, to help attendees with questions they may have on raising, managing, and hunting trophy whitetail bucks.  Beyond the seminars there are a lot of events to keep you entertained including, hunt auctions, an exhibitors trade show packed full of everything deer hunting.  The evening events included banquet dinners and entertainment each night.

One of the highlights of the weekend was seeing Country music artist Paul Bogart in concert for the first time.  He was one of many talented artists that performed at the QDMA this year.  Daniel Lee Martin from Backstage & Backroads also entertained the trade show attendees from the bed of a Chevy pick up truck.

Fans of the Outdoor Channel were fortunate that the QDMA brought hunting television favorites Bill Jordan, Realtree; Lee and Tiffany Lakosky, The Crush; and Eddie Salter and Alex Rutledge, H.S. Strut; to meet, greet, and entertain with their hunting stories.

We set up our booth in the tradeshow and were excited to share our new hunting DVD, Bringin’ It Home with Hazel Creek.  The weekend flew by and before we knew it, we were loading everything back up and headed home.

Headin' home.

The QDMA will be held at the same location next year.  We loved Louisville and can’t wait to be back next year. For more information on this organization visit www.qdma.com.
